What to look for in a PWM control case fan
Look closely at the specs as you’re eyeing a fan in this category.
- Size: Does your case need a 120mm or 140mm case fan?
- Bearing type: Check for magnetic dome or standard physical or hydraulic bearings.
- Static pressure and RPMs: How fast and how hard your fan blows.
- Control protocol: With PWM fans, check to see what kind of software or programming capability there is.

What is a PWM control fan in a PC?
The abbreviation “PWM” stands for “Pulse Width Modulation”.
